Development Sector: GeoExplorer currently focuses on activities provided by natural resource management (NRM) practitioners, so the default sector is NRM. GeoExplorer may be expanded to other development sectors in the future.
Development Sub-Sector: We are defining sub-sector as a broad focal area within NRM. While some activities may fall into more than one category, please choose the ONE that BEST represents the activity you are sharing (i.e., the predominant category).
- Ecotourism: Natural and/or cultural resources or activities linked to the tourism industry.
- Fisheries: Activities having to do with inland or marine/coastal fisheries.
- Forestry: Activities relating to forestry, forest products, or the forest industry.
- Land Mgmt/Ag: All land management activities including productive and agricultural activities, often occurring across a landscape or watershed.
- Water: Activities having to do with water resources, availability, access, etc.
- Wildlife: Activities having to do with wildlife conservation, management, protection, etc.
- Energy: Activities related to the NRM (green) side of energy.
Development Scale: The scale at which the activity is implemented.
- Regional: The activity is implemented across more than one international border.
- National: The activity is implemented or has impacts at the national level (ex: policy reform)
- Sub-National: The activity is implemented across a large area of the country, but it may not be national in focus.
- Local: The activity is implemented at the community level or in one particular location.
Development Topic/Theme: Please select a topic or theme that BEST highlights what you would like to present about the activity you are sharing. We realize there may be more than one appropriate theme, but at this time you can only choose one.
- Policy/Regulation: Activities focused on addressing the enabling environment.
- Governance: Activities focused on civil society or governance.
- Biodiversity: Usually its own sub-sector but in this context with its broad, cross-cutting nature, it is included as a topic so it may be combined with one of the above sub-sectors.
- Climate Change: Usually its own sub-sector but in this context with its broad, cross-cutting nature, it is included as a topic so it may be combined with one of the above sub-sectors.
- Livelihoods: Activities focused on economic development and livelihoods.
- Health: Activities related to human health and linked to natural resource management.
- Extension: Activities related to knowledge management, information dissemination, or extension services translating research and innovation into practice.
- Research/Science: Activities focused on scientific research within the context of NRM.
